Radio Frequency Design

Learn RF concepts through flash tutorials

HINT: TRY PUSHING F11 KEY TO GET BIGGER SCREEN IF THE FLASH PROGRAM IS TOO BIG FOR SCREEN!

This portion of the Website is going to introduce concepts which are important to understand if you wish to do RF design.

I intend to add content to this portion of the site in the near future. Currently I have one flash program that helps you visualize how reflected waves develop on a transmission line and helps you understand VSWR and the Reflection Coefficient :

There are also five flash programs to help understand the Smith chart:

Here is a tutorial about decibels:

A little about me:

I am an Electrical Engineer and have worked at RF design engineering for 25 years. RF design requires knowledge across a wide range of Electrical Engineering topics. I was exposed to most of what I needed to know in college, however, I did not really learn what I needed to know in college. I have had to spend 25 years continually thinking about this subject. Sometimes I have gone several years without expanding my knowledge, and sometimes I spend 2 or 3 years in a row reviewing material and buying new books and studying new subjects. This is a field that you just keep learning a little at a time.

No book or website could possibly provide all the information you need to be a successful RF engineer or designer. It must really come from within yourself, and will require a passion that lasts a long time if you wish to master this subject. You need to be thinking about many concepts and constantly trying to tie these concepts together to become a good RF designer.

I hope to provide a few little pieces of insight on topics that I have found to be tricky to understand. Hopefully you can integrate some of these thoughts into your current knowledge base to become just a little stronger than you were before.
